Overview:

The Research Science Institute (RSI) is a highly prestigious, cost-free summer research program for high school juniors, hosted annually at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE), RSI selects 100 of the world's most accomplished students to engage in cutting-edge STEM research

Summer Science Program (SSP)

Overview:

The Summer Science Program (SSP) is a prestigious, research-based summer program for academically gifted high school juniors. Established in 1959, SSP offers an immersive, five-week residential experience where students engage in authentic scientific research alongside peers and professional scientists.

Subjects:

• Astrophysics:
  Determine the orbit of a near-Earth asteroid using telescope data, programming, and orbital mechanics.

• Biochemistry:
  Investigate enzyme kinetics and design inhibitors to target bacterial or viral proteins.

• Genomics:
  Analyze DNA sequences to study gene expression and evolutionary relationships.

• Synthetic Chemistry: 
  Conduct laboratory research on catalysts and complex chemical reactions.
